Act Your Age

Unfortunately, going to see a washed-up alternative band playing in the rain at a summer festival being held at a sprawling park that is deep in the heart of Clermont County and filled with more soccer fields than screaming fans with at least four sober people in your party does show your age. But Gin Blossoms caught all our attention when they graced the cover of our Miami Township quarterly newsletter and we planned an adventurous, kid-free night to watch them headline at the "Midsummer at the Meadows" annual event. Sitters – check. College reminiscing – check. Pre-drinks at Shooters- check. Burned CD – check. Ten minute drive – check. Twenty minute walk – check. Thirty minutes of music – check. Rain – check. At least five shout-outs to us "Ohio Rockers" – check. Late night beers and a complete deep-fried appetizer spread at Shooters – check.

Well, that about sums it up, and I am more certain than ever that watching any band that I once saw play at Bogarts, excluding Toad and Over the Rhine, will be a little less than satisfying from a music perspective, but the night can always be saved in other ways.
