I know the phrase above is more commonly associated with weddings, but it rings even more true with your kids and goes beyond a vowel to an inherited right. We are so lucky that Alex has been a happy and healthy boy over the first 14 ½ months of his life, only having to battle slight jaundice, reflux and a few colds as a baby. But this month, we got a taste of what it is like for a toddler to battle a stomach virus.Alex actually handled his 24-hour bug better than any of us, as he did more sleeping and less fussing than Andy, Casey or I combined. It is definitely hard to watch your child not feeling well, because it makes you feel helpless, and as first time parents, even more paranoid than normal. But once the doctor assured us that his behavior was “typical” and he would be back to himself after two bottles of Pedialyte, we started to breathe a bit easier. And if you can find a silver lining in any situation, then we all benefited from a weekend at home with plenty on snuggle time!
