Family Tradition

It figures that after spending one night with his grandparents on the Irish Catholic side of the family, Alex’s newest parlor trick is raising his sippy cup high and giving an enthusiastic “Cheers” to his tablemates. No, he is not saying the word, just performing the motion. And no, his cup is not filled with Murphy’s Irish Stout, just whole milk.

I’d be lying if I said we didn't think this was cute and that we didn’t use this to entertain houseguests, but when it comes to your typical Tuesday night meatloaf, ten rounds of “Cheers” before our first bite does get a little tiring.

However, we don’t want to break any social habits that may come into use 17 years from now, so we’ll continue to raise our pints high, laugh as usual and let our main course get cold.
