At last – or at least I just found – a CD perfect for both parents and kids. We just downloaded Sing-A-Longs & Lullabies for the Film Curious George, by Jack Johnson and Friends, and can’t get it off our iPod. Sure, the movie may be a little too mature for Alex, but the lullaby tunes are just his pace - perfect for car rides, rainy days and bed time – and the artists are some of our favorites. Who would have thought G. Love - best known on the college circuit for “Cold Beverages” - and Ben Harper - best known to thirtysomethings for “Steal My Kisses”- would sound so good on a kid’s album. Plus, Johnson’s re-make of the White Stripes’ “We’re Going to Be Friends” is a win for any age group.
However, like any album, not all songs deserve the same playtime and a few may remind you too much of School House Rock … such as "three is the magic number: reduce, reuse and recycle.” So just skip over those and enjoy the remix version of “Upside Down” and you’ll question if you are at Bogart’s or Kindercare.
